The Noninvasive Cardiac Evaluation of 316 PARKER

چکیده
Twelve long-distance runners were evaluated by physical examination, electrocardiogram, vectorcardiogram, chest x-ray film, and echocardiogram; and the results were compared to the findings in 12 normal control subjects. The athletes showed a significantly higher frequency of gallop rhythms with a third or fourth heart sound. Fiectrocardiographic and vectorcardiographic abnormalities consisting of right or left ventricular hypertrophy, bradycardia, and alterations in the ST-T wave were also present

Evaluation of Cardiac Mitochondrial Function by a Nuclear Imaging Technique using Technetium-99m-MIBI Uptake Kinetics
Mitochondria play an important role in energy production for the cell. The proper function of a myocardial cell largely depends on the functional capacity of the mitochondria. Therefore it is necessary to establish a novel and reliable method for a non-invasive assessment of mitochondrial function and metabolism in humans. Although originally designed for evaluating myocardial perfusion, 99mTc...

ABSTRACT Due to the frequency of major thalassemia in our country and cardiac complications secondry to iron overload as one of the most important causes of death in these patients and the absence of any similar study in this region (Kashan city), we studied the cardiac complications in patients with major thalassemia in Kashan in 1999 and 2000. A prospective descriptive study was perf...

The timely report of Parker and associates entided T h e Noninvasive Cardiac Evaluation of Long-I)istance Runners" (Chest 73: 376381,1978) shows that in tb absence of clinical heart disease, athletes trained for endurance may have changes on the electrocardiogram resembling those of myocardial infarction. The recent growth of marathon running as a hobby has attracted many rehabilitated cardiac ...

Complications of Coronary artery disease remain the most common cause of morbidity and mortality after vascular surgical procedures. Goldman risk factor analysis has been suggested as peri-operative noninvasive screening method to detect significant coronary artery disease in emergent vascular procedures. Methods and Materials: In this study, the accuracy of the Goldman scale was assessed with r...
